Responsibilities:

  • Respond to Medical, Fire, Hazmat, and Security related emergencies
  • Ensure emergency systems and equipment are ready for any emergency response
  • Completes emergency preparedness tasks per the site ES&S Preparedness Plan
  • Enact emergency response plans and operate emergency response equipment
  • Complete security checks of the fence line, facilities, and critical assets.
  • Perform confined space and high angle rescue
  • Inspect, test, and maintain fixed and portable fire protection systems

 

 

Required Skills/Certifications:

General OneTen Requirements:

  • Recent Work Experience: Candidates must have been actively working within the last 12 months.
  • Industry Experience: Candidates need to possess a minimum of two years of experience in their preferred industry.
  • Application Readiness: We are currently unable to accept candidates who require interview or additional skilling support.

Role Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A willingness and ability to work 12-hour, rotating shifts
  • Prior experience in emergency response
  • Current, valid US driver’s license
  • Ability to safely work in a plant environment, meet physical demands, work at elevated heights, and comfortably use PPE and safety equipment. Must be familiar with or open to training on proper equipment usage.
  • Knowledge and abilities needed to effectively address emergencies and disasters
  • Ability to enter spaces that are large enough for a worker to enter and perform work, but have limited or restricted means of entry and exit
  • Firefighting: Involves a multitude of essential skills beyond just putting out fires, including communication, problem-solving, physical fitness, and adaptability
  • Emergency Medical Services: Encompasses a range of crucial skills used to provide immediate medical care in emergency situations, including basic life support (CPR, AED), patient assessment, and stabilization
  • Communication: Ability to effectively convey and receive information, ideas, and feelings
  • Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:
    • Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes
    • Wear and use respirators and self-contained breathing apparatus
    • Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting
    • Work in tight or closed-in spaces
    • Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground
    • Stand or walk for extended periods of time
  • Essential functions of this position may require, among other things, that you use particular types of equipment -- such as on-site safety equipment that has specific weight limitations whereby your own weight, plus the weight of tools and other items and materials, must not exceed a certain threshold.  (For example, some types of safety equipment may be rated for a maximum weight limit of 300 pounds total.)

Preferred Requirements:

  • State of Michigan Emergency Medical Technician License EMT -B.
  • Certified in Hazmat Operations.
  • State of Michigan Certified Firefighter 1 & 2.
  • Previous experience in an industrial, manufacturing or chemical environment.

Tips from DOW Recruiter:

They are looking for both experienced hires and individuals willing to train.  Experienced hires need to have their Fire Fighters 1 & 2 and EMT certifications.  Candidates chosen to train will be sent for their EMT certification (3 months class) and Fire Fighter 1&2 school (1 week).  The certifications will be paid for by the company as well as their wages.
